Why Use a Bottleneck For a Slide?
Why Use a Bottleneck For a Guitar Slide?
A true bottleneck is by far, the best sounding guitar slide due to its thick glass walls and soft, resonant glass type.
'Soda Lime' glass, the standard glass type used by bottling companies, produces a slide that is superior
in tonal qualities to any "borosilicate" (used in mass-produced examples) slide made.
Each Mr. B's slide is unique!
Each bottleneck possesses a unique sound quality, or timbre. This can be attributed to the wide range of glass types used in bottling, a variety of glass thicknesses and an assortment of slide lengths cut by Mr. B's.
Unlike the other bottleneck companies, Mr. B's hand-selects only the smoothest bottles to cut, ensuring that any one of our bottlenecks will make a great slide!
If you purchase one of our slides from here, or from our dealers that fails to exceed your expectations, give us a call or email us and we will gladly replace it!
Mr. B's Authentic Bottleneck Slides are the
ONLY SLIDES IN THE WORLD WITH A SERIAL NUMBER and each slide is hand-signed by Mr. B!
Generally, the darker the glass, the harder it is.
Slides made of Darker glass (seen above) produce a brighter, sharper tone.
Since this harder glass produces more volume as well, dark colored slides are ideal for acoustic and resophonic instruments. Dark glass also sounds great on electric guitars.
But you don't have to take our word for it! If you are currently using a metal, ceramic or porcelain slide on your acoustic or resophonic guitar,
we want you to try a Mr. B's dark glass slide ...you will love the difference or we will give you a full refund!
Clear glass however, is much softer and therefore produces more soft sustain.
Accordingly, Clear bottlenecks tend to sound more bell-like and are thus recommended for use only on electric guitars.
If you haven't tried a true bottleneck slide on your electric and you are currently using a pyrex slide or a medicine bottle,
try one of our clear bottlenecks and you will be pleasantly surprised!
