Mr B’s Online Guitar Lesson Guide

The most popular music instrument is the guitar. Millions of people play the guitar across the world, it’s an instrument that crosses countries, races, genders and religions. With the guitar being so popular it must be easy to learn. It is, in fact, one of the easier and more difficult instruments to learn. The key to learning guitar comes to what type of music you want to play. For example, if you just want to jam away then you can teach yourself the basics and call it a day, whereas if you want to play Jazz, blues or even rock then you will need to pick up some more advanced techniques. These advanced techniques can be learnt with online guitar lessons from the likes of Guitar Guru or even YouTube.

How to learn guitar

how to learn guitarMost people are slow learners with the guitar and usually, will think there missing some sort of secret that is stopping them progressing faster. There are no secrets to learning guitar. With that in mind though there are a few tips to learning guitar. The main tip is to maintain your learning at a regular interval. Mark out a few hours every few days just to learn guitar and practice as much as you can. Eventually, you will get to a point where playing is just second nature to you and then you can reduce the hours per week you have to invest.

You should also be looking to get proper guitar lessons but I don’t mean in person lessons as the quality of a local guitar teacher can vary a lot. There are no industry qualifications for guitar teachers so why would you trust someone. In Mr B’s opinion, we would advise you look at online guitar lessons.

Best Online Guitar Lessons

There are 5 or 6 main online guitar lesson providers and they all have their own pros and cons. There aren’t any “bad” choices but what you should pay attention to is the type of lessons and who the teachers are. In most cases, the teachers will be well-known guitar players and in some cases will be guitarists that are household names for their guitar playing and bands they have been in. The main aspect of learning guitar online that I like is the ability to learn from different guitarists, all of which bring their own ideas and techniques which give you an overall view on how to play the guitar properly and without picking up the usual bad habits.

The costs for online guitar lessons are the main selling factor. Usually, you’ll be looking at around $20 a month for unlimited online guitar lessons whereas a 45-minute session with a local teacher could easily start at $50.
